Jumping in front of a subway train

I had an interesting, if not grotesque and insensitive, conversation about the techniques of jumping in front of a subway train. Needless to say, I am a naive and obviously unskilled jumper.

I always imagined that people jumped in front of the first car, gets hit by it, and is sent flying 30 feet. (At this point I was told I watch too many movies).

There are a few things wrong with this technique:
1) You have a good chance of survival.
2) You would most likely be plastered on the windows of the front train until it stops.

So I tried to salvage my pride and said something stupid like "Well, I guess you shouldn't jump at the end of the platform, but at the beginning, instead." Of course, that got a round of laughter.

I then learned that most people are crushed under the train. They jump into to the tracks as the subway is approaching and wait for it to run them over. There is an extremely small chance of survival with this technique.

It was clear to everyone that I hadn't put as much thought into this as I thought. But please people, don't jump in front of a subway train.
